How Long Should You Do Box Breathing?

Breathwork Studios · 6 min read · General wellness & educational content only

There is no single correct session length — it depends on your goal, experience, and available time.

Session Length by Goal

How Many Times Per Day

Most people practise once or twice daily — typically morning and/or evening. Brief on-demand sessions (before a stressful meeting, for example) are also widely used.

How Many Cycles?

One cycle = 16 seconds at 4-4-4-4. At this rate: 4 cycles ≈ 1 min • 15 cycles ≈ 4 min • 30 cycles ≈ 8 min. Most beginners start with 4–10 cycles per session.

Consistency matters more than session length. A daily 5-minute practice maintained over weeks produces more meaningful results than occasional long sessions.
